Creating Sharon's path - a resin bound pathway for our NHS

Monday 7th June 2021 by Sarah Ford

We were honoured to be asked to create 'Sharon's path' a resin bound walkway for the NHS at South Petherton Community Hospital

This project was an absolute pleasure to complete and, as you can see from the before, during and after photographs below, it was a huge transformation for the Hospital.

There wasn't a walkway in this area for patients and staff to easily walk along to take in the wonderful scenery and grounds, so, after a certain amount of groundwork and preparation, the team landscaped the area, building a wall and creating a meandering route across the grass, before laying a tarmac subbase (within a neat edging) and the resin bound surface.

Our team, wanted to complete this installation as quickly as possible so the patients would be able to make use of the path, and they we're making great progress until things took an unexpected turn!

When they arrived on site early one morning to start where they had left off the night before, they were horrified to find their equipment was nowhere to be seen. Most likely stolen. Undeterred, they quickly set about finding replacements, ringing our other teams around the county for replacement tools, and soon got back on track to complete the job on time, without any further complications.

In addition, to give something back to our NHS hero's as much as they could, the team stayed on to help redistribute the left over top soil to other parts of the garden after the path was finished.

It was a really enjoyable commission, for such a great place, and it was made all the more wonderful when we received these two glowing emails from the client:

Hi

I would like to thank you all on behalf of the LoF, the Hospital and the families who attended our formal opening of the new path yesterday June 6th.

Without your skill and support it would have been a very different outcome.

Without exception the attendees were overjoyed and delighted.

And I am relieved and grateful.

Dr Paull
