Stages of an artificial grass project

Tuesday 15th June 2021 by Sarah Ford

Ever wondered what goes into creating one of our outdoor transformations?

This neat artificial grass project in Newton Poppleford is a great illustration!

Stage 1

When our installation team first arrive, following our surveyors visit and after acceptance of our free, no obligation quote, they inspect the site and take 'before' photographs.

Stage 2

Although every project we undertake is as individual as our customers are, most require a certain amount of groundwork to level and smooth out the ground before we can lay the grass.

The team quickly set about removing the existing turf and levelling the area.

Stage 3

Then they laid a membrane and the 'dust' (as it is referred to in the Trade).

Although not quite pixie dust, it's still a very important part of the process as it gives the artificial grass a good solid base which is strong yet porous, allowing moisture to flow through more freely and good drainage is essential for any artificial lawn especially for pet owners.

The dust is raked evenly across the entire the membrane, and then levelled and packed down to form a solid subbase.

Stage 4

This is the exciting bit!

The team roll the grass into position (quite a difficult job due to the weight of the product), trim and pin it in place.

Then, once brushed and hosed down to remove any excess dust particles, the garden is ready to be enjoyed.

The finished result turns a muddy, patchy area of grass into a weed free, lush looking garden all year round...

As well as artificial grass installations we also create stunning resin bound surfaces (ideal for driveways, patios and pathways), tarmac, paving, loose gravel and landscaping as well as timber and composite decking and fencing.
